Harold Pickett, an African American who works as a waiter at the Colonial Room Restaurant in downtown BridgeMyer Florida. Harold was once one of the most skilled carpenters in town. He and his father were known for their craftsmanship and the pride that they always put into their work as the father and son team of Pickett and Son. One day, Hadley Carter shows up in BridgeMyer to care for her ailing father. Sheriff Dobbs is new to the town and he spends his free time surveilling the African and Asian community on the border of Bridge Myer. He tells his “posse” to keep “those people” reigned in or crime will get out of hand. When Dobbs meets Hadley he takes a liking to her. When he sees Hadley and Jae together, he sets his sights on Jae and things go from bad to worse.
